About Sisal

Sisal is a naturally strong and hardwearing fibre extracted from the Agave Sisalana plant that grows in the arid regions of East Africa and Brazil.

Agave Sisalana

Traditionally used for making ropes sisal's uniquely tactile quality makes it a popular choice for luxurious home furnishings.

The fleshy leaves are cut by hand then crushed and washed to remove impurities. The remaining fibres are dried and graded ready to be spun into yarn.

The Natural Rug Store uses only the highest quality sisal fibres to produce individually designed sisal rugs in a range of classic weaves.

Stain Protection Treatment

For peace of mind we offer INTEC stain protection treatment. INTEC protection ensures that every fibre is protected by a polymer shield to resist the absorption of stains and dirt and helps to prolong the life of your sisal rug. INTEC is environmentally friendly, completely safe and does not affect the colour or the texture of your rug. This option can be selected at the checkout for a small extra cost before paying.
